The themes of the trip were (a) Mid West Culture and (b) The Underground Railroad Movement, taking in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. The trip was for 36 days in Sept/Oct 2013, staying at nine locations:
Chicago, Illinois – for Downtown Chicago
Davenport, Iowa – for Davenport, Galena and Dubuque
Springfield, Illinois – for Downtown Springfield and Camp Butler National Cemetery
St Louis, Missouri – for Downtown St Louis and Forest Park
Jonesboro, Illinois – for Cairo, Cape Girardeau, Trail of Tears State Park and Shawnee National Forest
Elizabethtown, Kentucky – for Kentucky Railroad Museum, Lincoln’s Birthplace and Maker’s Mark Distillery
Cincinnati, Ohio – for Downtown Cincinnati, National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and Union Railroad Terminal
Wapakoneta, Ohio – for Troy, Dowtown Wapakoneta and the Armstrong Air & Space Museum
Marshall, Michigan – for Van Wert (OH), Marshall, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo
