About

Welcome to the Alan White Photography website!

A lifetime passion for photography, coupled with  numerous trips and tours of the UK, Europe, South America and especially the USA have expanded my photographic archive to bursting point, so now it’s time to share a selection of them grouped by various themes – that’s what you’ll see in photographs and text on this website. My other passion is for blues and early gospel music, the history of the genres and the African American people, the lands from whence they came, all of which can be seen by visiting my other websites:

www.earlyblues.com and www.earlyblues.org , covering all things related to blues music,
www.earlygospel.com , researching the origins and evolution of early gospel music,
www.earlyrnb.com, documenting the history of early R&B music, and
www.undergroundrailroad.org.uk, providing an insight into the Underground Railroad movement during American slavery times

For the technically minded photographers, I used to use Canon DSLRs exclusively (which forms a high proportion of the photographs on this website) comprising: an EOS 5D Mark III, an EOS 7D and an EOS 50D, with prime, wide-angle and telephoto lenses ranging from 18mm to 600mm in focal length. Now I have migrated to Olympus Four Thirds equipment to replace all Canon EOS camera bodies and associated lenses. The equipment now comprises:
a) Camera Bodies: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk II and E-M10 Mk II
b) Lenses: Olympus 12-100 f4 PRO, 12-40mm f2.8 PRO, 40-150mm f2.8 PRO, 75mm f1.8 ED, 60mm f2.8 ED Macro, 14-150mm f4-5.6 ED, Samyang 7.5mm f3.5 UMC Fisheye and a Panasonic Leica 100-400 f4-6.3.
c) Olympus Tough TG-5 compact camera.

I hope you enjoy browsing the website.
